My so decided he liked my SAKO for an upcoming moose hunt so I’m looking for a lever.
I have a BLR 7mm scoped and a Winchester Model 71 holding up the safe. Got a little manic this year!
I will make a few calls today on guns found on GI and GB. Took a look at one yesterday in NH that is an option.
Really like the weight of the .358 and caliber is well suited for moose.

I didn’t think anyone wanted to part with one.

I want one too. If I had one, it would not be parted with:) Best of luck and a free bump, good luck on your moose hunt!

i bought a .358 BLR in 1976 for a bear hunt but never went on the hunt. still have the box and tags. i doubt if you would want to take a new gun on a moose hunt though.

Are you looking for the older steel model or lightweight '81 model? Straight or pistol grip? Stainless? Lots of options for a great lever gun in a great caliber. Good luck on your search....for both the rifle and the moose.

Older steel in good shape, however I may buy a new one. I have a few to look at in the next few weeks. Kittery Trading post has one I inquired about today.

A blr-81 would have a slight advantage due to the cost of replacement magazines. The original (pre 81) rifle's magazines cost $200-300 if you can find them. Gunbroker sold two recently for $225 & $305. The '81 mags can be found for $60. FYI: I have both and find no difference in operation or accuracy. I wouldn't part with them.

I purchased a LNIB, it was purchased, never fired and traded back to the dealer. I found it on GB at a gunstore an hour from my home. Small store owned by a retired police detective. I may be addicted to levers and calling some of you back re: purchasing. Paid $899 with a second magazine and a box of bullets.

I have owned both the 358 and the 348. For a few reasons would have loved to shoot a moose with that 71’.
