Thinking about the opener. With this cold weather, might be heading south. Thinking about hitting Tetonka down by Waterville.

I'll leave the opener to you amateurs. The good walleye fishing won't start until the end of may or beginning of june this year. I might hit WI for the MN opener if my parents lake is open.

If this opener hold true to the way most of them go, I'll be fishing for crappies by 9:30 or 10:00.

I've never been a very good walleye fisherman, but it's fun getting out for the opener.

More snow on the way for the metro. Glad I didn't put the snowblower away yet, but man this crap's getting old. How much snow you guys got up north, Dave? My wife and are were up looking at land north of Hinckley last weekend.Found a parcel we're interested in. Hoping to see some of this snow go away so I can get out ant walk it. Looks like a good area to hunt. Would sure be nice to have our own deer shack to hand down to my son in a few years.

I'm not 100% sure what we have but it's around there. I measured it at about 2PM yesterday at 13" and it was still snowing hard. We probably got 4-5 more after that. It's tough to tell though with all the drifting.

Spent the whole weekend in Maple Grove area, for hockey tourney. Rink was in Rogers. Saturday night around 730 had to drive from Rogers back to Maple Grove on 94. In my life i have never seen so many cars, trucks, semi's in the ditch for like what 8 -10 miles of road. Was crazy, told the boy he'll never forgot this weekend.

Dave-is it looking like a hardwater opener on Lake of the Woods? I wouldn't rule one out here. Could be some pretty big ice piles of ice on a bigger lakes if we get wind.

Someone finally broke through by shore with a superduty ford, yesterday I believe. Right by the boat ramps in warroad. Current there as the ramps are on the warroad river.
Lots of ice still out there though, no way it will be off for opener.
Something clever here.

I had a guy in the store yesterday tell me he was still getting out on the ice down here around the Cities. It's got to be getting pretty thin, I'd think with these temps in the 50's.

Goph,
My Son was out this last Saturday, after Crappie.
He & a buddy both limited out. They said there was still 30+ inches of ice, it hasn't lifted from the shoreline yet, but the landings were da schitz !
Needless to say, they were on quads, not in a truck.
Paul.
