Any opinions on this gun? I have a chance to buy one and I'm strongly considering it.

I have one, had it about a year. Shot it maybe 4-500 times. Well put together, and the machining is pretty good. Much more accurate than I am for sure. Always wanted a 1911 and these were on sale for $650 or so, glad I bought it. I really like it. I think the R1 is as good as any of the sub $1000 1911's. I have had a few feeding issues in the first couple hundred rounds, but now its shooting ball and hollow points with out a hitch.

I'd buy it again.

Add another yea vote. Mine has been digesting everything it's fed for a bit over 2k rounds now. It took a hundred shots or so for that to happen, about what I'd expect from an ok 1911.

Nice. I found one used somewhat locally and since it has 600 rounds through it it's already broke in.

Wow! It seems like yesterday when Springfield Armory had the GI Model for sale at $400.00.

You need a time machine. That was like ten years ago. Time really flies.
