I used a not descript ground meat that Im hesitant to name as it tends to trigger certain folks. It rhymes with "Daughter" and "Ruffalo". Brown said un-named meat. Then brown Cabbage and onions with lot of salt and pepper and either butter or lard or margarine. (The smart money is on butter) Combine and reheat.

Looks good to me, but cabbage is a staple to me. You could possibly add some egg noodles, and it would be a haluski kind of thing.

Normally we place it on bread dough and bake them with this as the filling. I grew up eating these things. I also just like the filling all by itself.

Those meat pies look darn good. Gonna have to try my hand at making some. I have a feeling my kids would love them.

You dont have to stop at the 5 base ingredients
Ground meat Cabbage Onion Butter salt/pepper
You can add things like red/green/yellow pepper, cubed potato, crumbled bacon, etc but you run the risk of creating a pasty.
