Hey All!
Just a couple quick questions .....anybody using Remington 200gr RN CoreLokts In their Whelen for deer?
Can they handle 23-2400fps?
Thanks, Tom

It should work. I was using the 200 gr. Hornady SP at 2650 from a 350 Rem. Mag. for black bear. It killed them just fine, but usually didn't exit. The 200 gr. Rem RN probably isn't that different.

Some years ago I chronographed factory CoreLokts out of 2 different rifles. They were consistent, and accurate, at an average velocity of 2660fps. Your velocities are down between that produced by the 35 Rem and 358 Win. They will reliably take deer.
200 gr 35 caliber bullets are deadly missiles, often underestimated for their capabilities in the field, including the RN CoreLokts.

CoreLokts are very well made bullets, in my opinion. I used to use CoreLokts almost exclusively until they were hard to purchase as components.

BTW: That is a mild load in a Whelen, it should work just fine.

I prefer classic.

I was gifted 1000 of them, so I figured I would put them to good use. I didn’t want to stress them too bad.
Thanks for the replies, Tom

I've loaded them > 2600 and < 2400. They'll bang flop any deer.

In my experience, Corelokts will hold together as well as any non-premium bullet (partitions etc.) 2700fps would be no problem. perhaps as high as 2900fps.

I used them for over a decade in my Whelenizer. I never recovered a bullet, but they seemed to put the deer down quite handily. Most of my shots were 150-175 yards.
