Have a group going to S.A in late June. Can some experienced travelers give their recommendations on a Meet and Greet service along with Rifle Permits? We are spending the 1st day at City Lodge and flying out to Port Elizabeth the next morning.

I've used Gracy Travel in the past, and will use them again in August, travelling to Joburg and then on to Port Elizabeth.

Very pleased with Air 2000/Hunter's Support.

Used:
1) meet & greet.(coming & going in Joburg)
2) rifle permit.
3) car & driver in Joburg. All of the staff were knowledgeable and friendly.

We will use them again.

There are several good ones, all of them mentioned here already. Just make sure that the company allows you to scan and email the documents to them, instead of insisting that you mail them.....the signed SAPS, copies of passports, etc. Mailing them will take weeks and may be unreliable. Reason I say that is because air2000 told me I had to use the mail a few years ago. Hopefully that has changed.

Afton House, working with Linda Falcon (Falcon Travel) is handling everything for our August trip.
We have to overnight this time, since there's a domestic flight to P.E. involved. We did notarized SAPS page six, passport copy (photo/signature page) and latest/greatest redo of Form 4457's, all via email, scans or IPhone photo. We'll pay in cash after staying with Afton House. Wiring funds for everything else is far more convenient than AmEx travelers cheques, BTW.

In 2006 with Air 2000, I had to courier via UPS ($100.00 USD) paper versions of Letter of Invitation, all gun info, ad infinitum. When we got past passport control, the Air 2000 guy wheeled my stuff (including the packet with completed SAPS paperwork) through customs with absolutely nobody there. "Well, you just cleared customs!" Stefan said. But, but, but. I spent a hundred bucks and there isn't one nice, young black person in a new suit going to even read it!!

Much better to have the streamlined approach.

Barry

I understand, but have not confirmed that the forms can be emailed now.

+1!!

I used the other services mentioned above on prior trips and they worked well. However, Steve Turner’s Travel With Guns handled my last trip arrangements and everything was absolutely smooth, great communication and no hassles or worries. Recommend and will use again.

I used Afton House, they sucked! When I got to the airport and the RSA coppers, Afton House lost my permit. Mr. X tried to get it faxed to the airport, no go, finally he had to drive to Afton House and get it 2 hours later. Analiese or whatever her name is overbooked so we were ferried off to Eland House, very nice Greek South African owned it. Back to Afton House for the suckiest $25 steak dinner I ever had! I would go elsewhere!

Did Air2000 make you send hard copies through UPS, etc. or were you able to email the documents?

I just used riflepermits.com. We were in and out of the SAPS office in less than 5 minutes.
