It is the reason thoudands of other drs are closing their private practices and being incorporated into hospital programs or joining jack in the box clinics which are popping up all over the place.

Even msm has hosted programs dedicated to drs who can no longer afford to keep their doors open. The reimbursement cutbacks imposed by medicare do not allow for the replacement of expensive diagnostic equipment. Many tests i am required to do on patients with health problems are no fuggin longer paid for by medicare.

I do feel all people should have h insurance. Im just not so full of myself as to think i should be able to force you to get up and work every day to pay for it for them. We still have 30 million with no insurance, only now its working folk who cant pay for it and dont have it.

There are several surgeons in my area who are capable of and once did many surgical proceedures on medicare patients to relieve suffering and preseve eyesight. They no longer provide those services because they get paid less by medicare than it costs for the surgeons to take care of the patient. That forces me to have to refer those patients for sx at university training centers. Ditto for medicaid sx for children. My techs sometimes spend 30 min on the phone trying to find some univ clinic to see them. The reimbursement to private surgeons doesnt cover the costs of treatment, nurses, and malpractice risks.

When it costs $80 for a patient to be evaluated in a clinic and medicare or medicaid only reimburses 2/3 that amount you have a problem.

Well, the ACA was originally a Republican idea, their alternative to single payer, and was implemented successfully in Massachusetts. I suppose it comes down to ones philosophy. Should a highly developed country, (well, except for some Trump supporters), provide access to healthcare for its citizenry? I think we should, others disagree. Healthcare insecurity is a real burden on those afflicted, and I don't think people should have to go bankrupt because of a medical problem. The basic tenets of the ACA are very popular, and it has slowed to rise of healthcare costs. Not perfect, of course, but a step in the right direction.

BS. .gov has no business in health care in a free society. It can barely keep the Post Office afloat and its VA program routinely fails vets.
It results in poor surgeons being given as many patients to fugk up as good surgeons get to save.
