That is what I saw, I am hoping the 70-200 f2.8 II goes down in price.

Paid $1600 for my f2.8 IS II, two years ago. Heck of a lens on my 5D MkIII. I can’t justify $500 more for just minor improvements. Glad I went with the 2.8, worth the extra weight.

The Canon EF 70-200mm f/2.8L IS II is fantastic — I don't think a huge premium over that lens is a worthwhile investment, personally.

The new version of the 2.8 lens adds the air sphere coating which is an anti-reflective coating. They also apply a Flourine coating, it is a coating the resists dust and dirt, almost like trying to put 2 magnets together.. Promaster has been using this type of coating on their HGX filters for years. It resists finger prints and water "dots" like you see watching football in the rain. For those shooting in any condition other then dry sunny day it's worth the extra $$
