Ackleyfan,
I have shot them before they put the sand in the limb pockets and they shot really fast. The problem was they had to much hand shock for my lik'n and they were really loud. Maybe they fixed the problem, but I have no experience with the newer ones. They do come with an outstanding string and cable from Winner's Choice, that is an excellent string that comes stock on the Bowtech, so they are doing something right. With that said, I really love the Mathews and Hoyt's right now. I think you won't go wrong with either one.

Ackleyfan,
I have handled the new cam and 1/2, and as far as looks and feel it is quite nice. However, I haven't got to shoot one yet, but hope to soon. I really don't think that the trend will go back to double cam's, but rather stay with single cams. That being said the new cam and 1/2 is a great design. On each cam there are 2 little machined lines where the cables cross over the cam. As long as the cable stays between these lines the bow is supposed to shoot at its peak performance. So in a since you still have timing to deal with, but it is made easier. I talked to a guy who shoot's two of the cam and 1/2 bows (Razortec and Protec) and he has played with them a bunch and he has no complaints. He also is the best shooter in the state and runs one of the best archery shops in Oklahoma City, so he knows his stuff. If I hadn't found this site, I would probably have the money to buy one, but I have too many irons(rifles) in the fire right now. I am really anxious to see what Mathews comes out with, I have heard they are going to make a Conquest 3, the conquest made up like the Legacy. I am excited to see!!

I got a Bow Tec Patriot in the mail to me right now...from what I have read the Patriot and the Mathews Legacy are the bows to shoot right now, but must say that is like saying my .308 Winchester is the rifle to shoot! The new bows with their dampning systems are very quite and a lot less vibration than the old bows.

You might want to look at the bows Wheeler archery is making. They bought out Blue Mtn. Archery. They are using Bow-Tech's cam. Shot one the other day and it shot great. Nothing but a rest on the bow and all I could detect was a barely audible bit of string twang. No Shock, no vibration. I like them because their grips are made different from bow-tech's and they are a little lighter. The bow I shot was 32 1/4 ata and I had no trouble at all with it. Very forgiving, very accurate. The guy that owned the shop made me put it back on the shelf after I busted one of his nocks with it. I ordered one with a little longer ata length and am expecting it in about 3 weeks. The IBO on the bow I ordered is 318-324fps. They have a website: www.wheelerarchery.com. Chech it out before you buy a Mathews or a Hoyt. They are both good bows but try to shoot a wheeler before you buy. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Got my Bowtech...very fast and very quiet. Shoots a frozen rope, no need to adjust site under 35 yards. Good grouping, I "split" my first arrow! Excited till I realized I ruined a 4 dollar arrow...

I shoot a Bow Tech VFT Extreme. Great bow, Used to shoot a Mathews and they just arent what the Bow tech is and Bow tech is much faster.

Bowtech no longer puts winners choice strings on which is too bad. Far as speed goes while the dual cam patriot is one of the fastest bows out there from what I hear the Mathews Blackmax II is faster not that I'd be interested in either one of those bows with their non existant, arm ripping valley. The Mathews LX seems to be shooting faster than the other Bowtwechs, IBO ratings be damned, in quite a few tests conducted lately too. Much to the chagrin of Bowtech loyalists.
The speed thhing is overrated however as all the manufactures have bows that are very fast while being somewhat forgiving.
I recently bought a bow. Money was no object and I shot AR's, Mathews. Hoyt, and Bowtech among others. Started out wanting a Mathews and still feel like the LX and Legacy belong in my possession but ended up buying the Hoyt cybertec. The AR 34 was awsome as well but too new/unproven for me. Hoyt grip is awsome as is the AR's. The bowtechs were awsome as well but after shooting them all I prefered others for their feel. Certainly nothing wrong quality wise with them.
Far as quietness and handshock goes regardless of how they are stock with the addition of limb savers and a stabilizer they are all very quiet and shock free. Shoot them all and picking what feels best is what is most important as they are all quality bows not better than one or the other simply because of the name they wear.
