Put together a few loads to test when it arrives.

I'm intrigued with the 75gr ELD-M. Hoping to get the best of two worlds, extended point blank range trajectory(point and shoot), and decent BC to make it work for extended range shots using the el turret. Verified reports show I should be able to get 3500ish. I'll find out as soon as it arrives from GAP.

Chomping at the bit! Always in search of the perfect coyote rifle...;)

This sounds very interesting.

Sounds like a hell of a lot of performance out of that combo.

Looking forward to seeing this.

What twist did you decide on?

1 in 6.5" or 1 in 7"?

Alpha brass isn't out....yet. Should be very soon. I'm sure it will be the same quality as the 6 Creed brass I've been using with their headstamp on it. Alpha does it right!

There are a couple of different options in the time being. I've been sizing down Hornady 6Creed brass using a .256' bushing. One stage, easy peasy. Trim to 1.910, deburr, dump powder..

The other option is use 22/250 brass. I happen to have a box of 100 Lapua 22/250 brass laying around that I'll put to use. I'll use slightly under max 250 data for the initial firing.

Friends who have been shooting this round claim excellent results with the Lapua brass in the initial firing process. I'm a tinkerer, so none of this is what I'd consider a pain in the rear...;) Kind of goes with the territory when I'm helping develop data for a new round. Powders I'll try are, H4350, H4831SC, RE26, Varget, and maybe H1000.

How does the 22 creed compare to the 22-250 Ackley?

From what I have researched, the capacity is nearly identical.

I’m very anxious to see how this project goes. I’m interested in a fast twist 22 Creedmoor to sling the heavy bullets also.

Reading H-1000 when talking about a .224 caliber rifle made me laugh . Good times ..

I have been wanting a 22 middlestead 1-8 as my next chamberring but this 22 creedmoor is interesting , waiting watching here .
Good luck

Based on my 22-250AI/A-max experience, I suspect you have found it..........The new 88gr ELD-M's only sweeten the pot, smart going 7" twist!! Can you say, "coyote cleaver" ? It'll split more than a few hairs, I'm sure...........(grin).

I cut a chamber for a fella the other the in this but he hasn't worked anything up for it yet. Good friend of mine is Kelly Jackson who is a field rep for Foxpro has taken over 100 coyotes with a Savage chambered in 22 Creed 8 twist.

I have run most all the different brands of 6.5 Creedmoor brass thru my 22Creedmoor Whidden FL dies in one pass as long as it unfired new brass it’s smooth as silk. Once fired would need a step down with bushing or rn thru a 6.5 die without expander. I would recommend using 6.5 Brass versus 6mm brass which sounds counterintuitive but we have more consistent results.
I have over 600 rounds thru my Horizon built rifle and most of those were fired at predators with a few deer and pigs thrown in there.
Started with the 75 AMax then moved to 80 gr AMax then ran the 80.5 Berger one season then back to 80 gr ELD-m and just loaded a bunch of the 88gr ELD-M and shot a couple coyotes just to see how they performed.
I tried about half dozen powders and settled on Reloder 26.
3500 fps is possible with 24 inch barrel. I ran 3600 with 75 ‘s and Hornady brass but don’t expect long life.
My current load runs 3460 and have not been able to wear out the Lapua brass so far.

I haven’t asked Derrick at Horizon Firearms how many 22 Creedmoor’s he has built but just a wild guess there is probably 50-100 folks running them in Texas..... last contest I was in late spring seemed like everyone had one.

Someone asked, I thought that I would post a picture of the 6.5 creed and a 22/250 AI.

+ that the 22 creed needs no fire forming

6.5 Creed on the left fired out of an AR, 22/250 AI on the Right fired out of a bolt gun

Forgot to mention I also had 50 pieces of Lapua 22-250 brass that I loaded and fired thru my 22 Creedmoor so you could shoot 22-250 ammo in the 22 Creedmoor. The necks are a little short doing it that way so I didn’t pursue it past firing those 50 and then reloading them. For those fireforming loads I backed off .5 gr and dropped to a 69gr bullet as I had a bunch to use up.
