What is the best on the street price for a set of New 10x42 Ultravids. I ran across a set of them for $1399 on sale today and they were outstanding. They have me thinking about upgrading from my 8x32BAs.

That seems like a very good deal...new w/ lifetime passport warranty or preowned certified w/ 10 year warranty?

They are brand new, taken out of the box and placed on the display case in a local sporting goods store with full lifetime passport warranty. The store is trying to get rid of its expensive glass and bring in medium price range glass. This was the last set of the Leicas that they had.

One of our local stores had a pair that IIRC was in the $1200-$1300's that they were closing out, they were green. It might be worth the call to double check because I've slept since then and not in a Holiday Inn Express . The store is call "Outdoor Outfitters" in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma at 39th and Portland. Sorry but I don't have the number to hand. They are very nice folks to deal with................DJ

AT that price even Doug might have a hard time beating the deal. I just got those same binos from Doug (demos), simply awesome. The quest for glass is over.

If that is new, with the Passport warranty, and they are a Leica authorized dealer then buy it. That is way below dealer cost. As you state, they are selling off their Leica product so it is a win win situation. If they are not an authorized dealer (check with Leica, 1-800-222-0118) then you have no warranty as you are not buying thru Leica channels and they would be considered used.

Don't know where ya live, but, my way in Middletown, NY they were selling Zeiss FL's for $1000 at Gander Mountain. The salesman said all Gander Mountain stores were selling these at this price due to a "closeout". Just another thought.
