Not a big affair, but they've got a few interesting planes over there. Some guy is doing air acrobatics over my house right now. Earlier, a B-25 flew past.
I think they're selling rides in the B25 and a P-47. I've yet to see the P-47 flying around.

Go get a ride, take pictures and report back.
I have a feeling you'll never regret the ride.

I'd pay to ride the P47. I'd pay more to fly one, or any of the old warbirds.

Well still living in the city on a city lot, so not right now, but if things work out and we move up to where BC30cal (dwayne) lives I will give it a thought, would enjoy playing around in my retirement.

watched a documentary on Netflix last night about a guy with a machine shop restoring a P-51. Took him 5 years, learning to rivet using techniques from 1944 and making many of the parts in-house. He even made the browning .50 cal machine guns.
It shared the same Rolls Royce Merlin engine as the Hawker Hurricane but it had a distinctive sound because the 2 of the 6 machine guns were embedded in the wing creating its unique whistle.
Went to see if the documentary was online this morning on youtube and saw where the guy crashed the plane 2 years ago and almost killed himself, and did kill a passenger. The plane was a total loss

The Confederate Air Force brings their B-17 through every so often. Last I heard they were charging $300 for a 30 minute ride. But that was a while ago. They've probably increased prices by now.
They fly out of the big Airport in Lexington when they're in town. I don't think this little private airport has a strip long enough for a B-17.

One year a P-47, P-51 and P-38 were circling, probably waiting to do a fly by. I had a huge, like, 20' x 30' flag. The wife, kids and I hauled it out to the street to salute. They all dropped down to do a pass with wings wagging over us. It looks like I just missed the P-47 day. I'll have to catch the P-51 next month. Does December seem like a good month the showcase the Zero? http://planesoffame.org/index.php?page=2018_calendar

The 51 ride is a bit high, the others are all reasonable to me.
Smoking hole in ground, should not ever expect much more I guess.

Was at the Dayton airshow a couple weeks back. They were offering rides in a Huey and a Cobra. The Huey was flying continuously all morning before the airshow. Very distinctive tone and cadence to the rotor beat. Not sure of the prices, but, never saw the Cobra lift off once.

I've heard the P-51 flying around in the distance here and there, but haven't caught sight of it. It's fairly overcast and I think he may be taking people above the clouds.
Hard to judge,...but I don't think he'd have to get much above 10,000 feet to be out of them.
There he goes again. Ain't no mistaking that Merlin engine and that big 4 blade prop chopping through the air.

Their is a little airport about 2 miles from me. They use to have an air show once a year. That ended when an old guy flew in to the trees next to the runway. Not sure now but i think he walked away from it with minor injuries. One lucky old dude.
