Usually, you just hook the printer to the laptop with a USB cord. It recognizes the printer and the drivers are installed.

Printing methods differ depending on whether your printer is connected with a USB cable or to the same wireless network as your Chromebook. USB connection: The HP Print for Chrome app supports printing through the Chrome browser to USB connected printers. Simply connect the USB cable, install HP Print for Chrome (in English), and then follow the onscreen instructions to enable the app. Go to Printing with the HP Print for Chrome App for detailed steps and answers to frequently asked questions. Wireless network connection: The HP Print for Chrome app supports printing through the Chrome browser over a local wireless network. Or continue with these steps to print over a local network or remotely with Google Cloud Print. https://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c04122530The old adage there’s an app for that applies.

Plug it into your router or modem... or wireless.

Your two thousand series printer is probably outdated. Might have to go with the three thousand series.

I have a Canon printer that used to be connected by a USB cable. Then I tried to connect my wife's laptop wireless. Didn't work until I redid mine wireless. It couldn't do both at once.

Screw it. I give up. Tried everything suggested and nothing has worked. It worked fine with the desk top computer. I am in a wheelchair and do not drive so getting a new printer is almost impossible. Believe me it is hard to find someone to help me do anything. Think that is enough of my pissing and moaning. bobg

Not enough info to really tell anything. You might check out this link HP Customer Support

I think that is enough info. What more do you need? HP Customer Support is for windows. This is Chrome. Now a question for FieldGrade. Did you buy a new printer? If so what did you get?

Chrome OS? All I know is what I read on wiki. It was based Linux so I can't see the point.
