A strange bug bit me in the butt and made me realize I haven't bought a new gun lately. So I decided I wanted a 10mm Revolver. So thinking about a revolver made Ruger come immediately to mind. Found out they made three versions of a 10mm revolver, A Super Blackhawk, a Super Redhawk, and a GP-100. I tossed out the SBH, I wanted a double action. Takes me too long to eject all the empties then reload it cylinder by cylinder, one at a time. Decided the Super Redhawk had a slightly longer barrel, and included a stainless scope mount in the box with it. Figured the longer barrel would give me a slight velocity increase, and a longer sight radius, so that is what I went with, So I also bought a 2X7 variable pistol scope and mounted it. Took it to the range to try it out and these were the very FIRST shots I took with it at 50 yards. I hadn't even zeroed the scope yet. (The flyer was totally my fault) I think I might have a keeper.

You done well... I've had a 9.5" SS SRH in .44M for years and that revolver has been exceptionally accurate. You'll have a ball with yours.. Congrats.

Definitely a keeper. What magnification were you using on your variable scope? I've never tried anything over 4x.

I shot a lot of IHMSA matches with a Super Redhawk. Always did well. Mine had 1 cylinder to the right of the proof mark that threw them to the left every single time. I had Williams Gunsight do a trigger and action job and it was the best money I ever spent on a gun.

PS Sight radius is irrelevant if you mount a scope.

Yep, but for anything over about 50 yards, I NEED that scope. Old eyeballs don't work like they used to.

The flyer might be a bad cylinder, take notes and check it out next time you shoot.

Sounds like a good shooter. But do check out that one chamber.

Nice rig. I have been thinking about getting one of those. You may have just helped me drain my bank account.

Hmmm ... looks like a good gun to send out to be rechambered for .38-40. That'd surely be the old and the new meeting.

gandog56, You may want to mount that scope correctly,by design, since the elevation turret wasn't meant to adjust windage & windage wasn't meant to adjust elevation.
Configured correctly will ease cylinder loading/un-loading.
