Mournings are very good eating. I haven't tried the collareds yet. Alot of the post you guys report about em seem to be from drier more arid parts of the country. A few years ago we spent Christmas with our daughter north of Miami. Collareds were everywhere. You can hardly call that a dry area. Thank you for correcting my observstion. I'm sure you felt I needed it. Sorry if that sounded snippy. That wasn't my intent. I was just commenting that they're found in wet areas, too. They came to the US from some that escaped cages in the Bahamas, landing in the south first. They did well there and kept spreading west. This map shows their native range. There are both wet and dry areas on it. Im just being a jerk man.. Nothing meant by it. Youd be a nice guy if you werent such a jerk, Rene.

They're here to stay at any rate so we need to make the most of it. At least they're much better than the starlings and a few other introduced species. One thing I ain’t seen is flocks of collared doves flying by fields in shootable numbers in the fall like mourning doves and white wings do. I be interested in hearing if they are doing that other places. Same here Birdy, but white wings do.

Here in the west CA, AZ we call them Eurasians not collared dove. They are starting to show up here in the residential areas.
