I have been hunting this ranch since around 2004. I go up at least once a month. Consequently I've got to know where the turkey roost and come to water and where they hang out. I will drive to the areas where they be, on my 4-wheeler and use box calls, mouth calls and sometimes an electronic game caller. Turkey are much more vocal in the spring. I'll call, they will answer. At that point I start my stalk. Cooper model 21 Laminate, 6 x 47. Steyr Mannlicher, 270 Win. Steyr Pro Hunter, 7 mag Custom Bansner stocked Winchester, 6.5 Leopard. Sako Riihimaki, 222 Rem. geedubya, what sort of loads are you putting together for use on those turkeys? What a beautiful collection!! I particularly like the Maple-stocked Dakota, and your 6.5 Leopard Winchester, with it's appropriately colored Bansner stock!!
This has been one of the best threads I've seen on the 'fire in quite a while, save for maybe the "Make the Campfire Great Again" thread.. I hope neither one dies...

This has been one of the best threads I've seen on the 'fire in quite a while, save for maybe the "Make the Campfire Great Again" thread.. I hope neither one dies... Over the years I've developed a few "go to" loads for the chamberings in the previous posts. 45 gr. TSX FB in the 222 Rem., 80 gr. TTSX in the 6 x 47, 140 Gr. Sierra Game Kings in the 6.5 (that rifle was smithed by Bo Clerke), 130 Gr. Nosler Ballistic Tips in the 270 Win. , 160 gr. Nosler Partitions in the 7mag, 140gr. Accubonds in the Maple Dakota, 280 Rem. 180 Gr. Accubonds in the 300 H&H. I try to hit them at the juncture of the neck and feathers. I'm not good enough to head shoot em'. unless it's with a shotgun ya! GWB
