Sugar industry has been paying off scientists and colleges for years to write papers saying fat is the cause of heart disease etc. It was rampant in the 1960's. Remember the food pyramid haha. The damn thing had sugars and pasta on it and it had bread. bread is single handedly the worst thing u can eat. They say when u eat it you body has no idea what to do with it and basically turns it straight into sugar. Fats aren't the issue sugar is the worst thing possible for your body period. I've been doing lots of reading on many diet subjects. I've lost 55lbs in 6 months basically giving up all fast food and cutting my sugar intake way down. Harvard is on the list of colleges paid massive sums of money and then pro sugar papers came out. I'm no doctor just a fat guy that wanted to lose his gut. And avoiding sugar and bread is working like a charm. https://www.foodnavigator.com/Artic...ientists-to-point-the-finger-at-fat-JAMA

I always thought high fructose corn syrup was more about the corn industry than it was about making things sweet... Yes. More accurately it's about the U.S. subsidized sugar monopoly.

Fructose is not processed by the body like other sugars. It does not trigger the Krebs cycle which causes the release of a hormone that tells the body you have eaten enough. Without the trigger you continue to eat as though you were hungry.

I think some of the chinese buffet joints around here sprinkle them Sensa crystals in the buffet items. Especially around the first of the month.

Your body was made to process natural sugars, not lab developed schidte ! Fructose is every bit as natural as any other sugar. By not triggering the Krebs cycle it does not turn off the desire for critters to eat it and spread the seeds, giving the plant a distinct advantage.

It had always been popular as cattle feed because it got that warbling thing going...

Fructose is not processed by the body like other sugars. It does not trigger the Krebs cycle which causes the release of a hormone that tells the body you have eaten enough. Without the trigger you continue to eat as though you were hungry. No sugar sources enter the Krebs (tricarboxylic acid) cycle directly. The starting input to the Krebs is pyruvate which comes from breakdown of fats, protein, or sugars. Sucrose is metabolized to pyruvate by glycolosis and fructose is metabolized to pyruvate by fructolysis. The end molecule is the same and they all enter the Krebs Cycle regardless of the source. There may be some other places fructose can go directly, like glycogen but most is metabolized to pyruvate and goes into Krebs to produce energy. NoCAL

So is nicotine but try to convince a smoker/dipper or anybody that loves sweets of it.

It was about the high cost of sugar in the USA because of our tariff on imported sugar. Our soft drink makers were looking for a cheaper sweetener and our candy manufacturers just moved to Canada where they don't have a sugar tariff. That's also why artificial sweeteners became a huge fad.

Diabetes seems to be the designer disease of our day. I'm of firm belief it has come from the insane infusion of various sugars into our diet. On purpose. It has destroyed my health and many here I'm sure. Conspiracy Theorist? Maybe. I've been called worse. Basically though we are a bunch of sheep just following along.

"But then there's the whole "food cholesterol does not equate to blood cholesterol" debate."
What debate? These days if your doctor finds that your cholesterol level is high he/she is going to insist that you start talking a statin drug and if he/she didn't they could probably be sued for malpractice if you die from a stroke or heat attack. They'll also tell you to cut out the cholesterol in your diet, lose weight and exercise at least 3 times a week. When I was got a physical exam at age 42 my overall cholesterol was 260. My doctor told me to cut out all the fat/cholesterol out of my diet, eat oatmeal for breakfast, eat a bunch of bran muffins during the day, take a mega-dose of niacin, run three 8 minute miles at least three times a week and come back in 12 weeks for another cholesterol test. At the end of that 12 weeks I had lost 15 lbs. (of mostly muscle), was weak as a kitten and my overall cholesterol was EXACTLY 260. I forgot my HDL number but it had gone up a little. He then prescribed Lipitor and took me off the no fat/cholesterol diet. After 12 weeks I had gained the 15 lbs. back, my total cholesterol number had dropped to 220 but I was still extremely fatigued. He prescribed another statin drug and my cholesterol number was still 220 but I had the same fatigue. That was 33 years ago and I haven't taken a statin drug since and don't plan to ever take one. I'm getting a checkup from my cardiologist next month and last year he said we would discuss the shots (very expensive) that are supposed to lower your cholesterol. I'm sure I can't afford the shots but I told him I would consider taking a cholesterol lowering drug as soon as someone shows me the research that explains why some people with high cholesterol levels have cardiovascular disease and some don't. I believe the biggest causes of cardiovascular disease are stress, not enough sleep, too much sugar/alcohol, nicotine, obesity and a sedentary lifestyle but most people just want to take a pill. By the way my very young cardiologist (a triathlete) agrees with me .

Does the toxin produced by GMO corn somehow disappear from the hfcs?
How do toxins that are poisonous to caterpillars not be poisonous to humans.
Why not get the tea unsweetened and add stevia rather than drink hfcs?
