I know. A factory new, Gen 4, Model 17 at a gun shop is going to be right around $600.00, and that's with plastic sights. More like $650 with the factory installed night sights.

That's nuts................pretty easy to find Gen 4, G17's with the standard sights for $510-515 all day, every day.

MM

Not around here.

Just went back and reviewed my receipts from 2015. My Glock 17 went for $570.00 before tax. That was after talking down the tag price. And that was three years ago. Plastic sights.

Factory installed, steel, night sights would be at least an additional $50.00.

Did you have a need to buy it locally and spend more money? Why not have it shipped and pay the transfer fee?

LOL. A number of factors contributed to that meme about them going kaboom, one of which was just based on the huge numbers of them out there, so even if only a tiny percentage of them go kaboom, you will hear about it from time to time. Secondly, it doesn't seem to happen when only factory jacketed ammo is ever used in the gun.

Locally, anyway, most of the kabooms were caused by Fiocchi ammo. We have a large police dealer/distributor here who also distributed Fiocchi ammo, and he'd sell a Glock and a case of the Fiocchi, and kaboom!. Almost all the problems got traced back to that dealer/distributor and that ammo.
That particular lot of Fiocchi .40 had pretty thin cases, and didn't just cause issues in Glocks, but in a host of other .40s as well. I know a guy who trashed two Tanfoglio Witnesses in .40 with the same loads.
Most Fiocchi ammo is good stuff, just that batch of .40s was "iffy", but it didn't do them any favors here. Word gets around, and folks quit buying Fiocchi. I'd have no qualms about buying it NOW, but I don't shoot a .40, either.

One option is to get a Glock conversion barrel, they could be had for between 100 and $150, and pick up some Glock 17 mags and have both 9mm or .40cal.... it wouldn’t be worth the effort if you were paying full price but for a brand new gun with night sites at that price is a very viable option.....

You'd need to change the ejector and extractor, too. Also, the breech face is sized for .40, so that might be a problem that can only be fixed by getting a whole new slide. Mags, too. Might as well just buy a 17 or 19.

Now converting .40 S&W to .357 Sig is a cinch. All you need is a .40 to .357 conversion barrel.

i have a glock 33, with 357sig factory, a kkm in the same caliber, a kkm in .40 s&w, and a kkm 9mm.
i have read the thing about changing the ejector and extractor, which is not hard to do or expensive when converting to 9mm.
having said that i have fired the gun just by using the 9mm barrel and not had any trouble.

I use a Lonewolf 9 mm conversion barrel in my gen 4 35 and model 17 mags, no problems.

I’ve fired 9mm ammo out of my Glock 32 in .357 sig caliber by just using a drop in barrel in 9mm, and Glock 19 mags. Works fine in mine.

I don't doubt you guys, but just replacing the barrel and firing isn't recommended when going from .40 to 9mm.

They're already down around here, and all over the place.

I can go into my favorite LGS right now and buy any of several model Glocks, Gen 3 and above.

Off the top of my head: G17, G19, G20, G21, G22, G23, G26, G27, G29.

And we're not talking about a big store.
