There's a wild fire on the other side of the ridge from the house. Reported at 30 acres right now. Aircraft are already attacking it.

Smoke has been bad here for going on a month now. Enough so that my wife has been coughing on and off for a week and my eyes burn all the time. It's as bad as the smog we dealt with living in the city.

Lots of wildfires burning around the perimeter of the Treasure Valley. Smoke in the North end of the valley has been so thick that it is interfering with my internet data link. I am using "Speedy Quick" wireless off of a source about fifteen miles distant.
Heck I can not even see the hill it is broadcast from most of the time this last week.
God bless the men and women out there on the lines battling the fires in this 100 plus degree heat. I hope they all stay safe.

Two super scooper aircraft just got on scene. They'll have short turn times between the Palisades reservoir and the fire scene.

Valstad: Opposite situation here in smokey SW Montana - my eyes are constantly watering/red, I get low grade headaches (I absolutely NEVER get headaches), I have much "congestion" in the morning and I am sneezing probably 20 times a day!
Whilst the VarmintWife has no symptoms from the dense smoke, what so ever!
Yesterday the visibility was 2 miles - today it is up to maybe 4 miles.
Fires are literally surrounding us from Canada to kalifornicationkopia to Idaho to Colorado and now we are getting a few more here in Montana - and its only mid-August!
I hope the o/p (Snake River marksmen) and all other will be safe.
Gonna get worse I fear before it gets better.

Would it not be a crying shame if a few cows or sheep ate off a bit of this fuel before it dried out and became such a fire hazard?

They actually do run cows and sheep up where this fire is at.
Talked to a couple of helitac guys at the store just now, they seem to think they've got a handle on it.
