Well, just made a deal for my first 1899, a 1914 A in .303 Savage. I'm more than pleased because it's all original, matching, no cracks, and in very good shape. Plus, I didn't break the bank in buying it. Looks like a great little gun.

You should be very happy with it,you will be the third owner.I bought it about eight yrs ago, about 4 yrs ago I took it out on a anterless mule tag, that hunt lasted about twenty min. It's accurate. Around here if they won't hunt they don't last long.Keep it oiled and hunt it once in a while.

Thanks guys, and thanks Rich, for the deal. I owe you one. OG, I'm assuming it has the original front sight. And Les, I told you some time ago I'd like to have a .303 and has been watching ever since for my chance. Who knows, might even take it caribou hunting.

She's a beauaty, good luck. Mike...

All said, the Savage 99 is a genius of a rifle. Although no longer produced, it remains highly revered, as it was the foundation from which Arthur Savage built one of America's great gun companies. >> (Jon Y. Wolfe) <<
