Now that the law in many areas is more permissive for autos, I would appreciate ideas as to best. Like the 110 for classic look, but really would prefer hi-quality lighter weight modern "synthetic" type. Opinions appreciated.

My son in law gave me a Benchmade Stryker auto for Christmas a few years ago. Well made knife and I thought the auto feature was pretty cool at first. Until I realized that it's actually quicker and easier to deploy a thumb stud, thumb hole or flipper knife than to disengage the safety and hit the go button on an auto.

That is interesting. I too have a couple thumb operated "flippers" that have become second nature to open.

My favorite is the Protech Dark Angle OTF Model. It’s sharp on both sides and has the fastest action of all my switchblades. They run about $240 bucks and are also the sharpest of ANY factory knife that I’ve ever owned. Like this: https://www.bladehq.com/item--Protech-Dark-Angel-OTF-Automatic--9854For every day carry I have a Gerber Applegate / Fairbanks that runs about $140 bucks. I carried a Godfather from Pro-Tech for years but I believe it is gone forever at this point. Great auto and amazing customer service. The Benchmade Infidel is a gold standard in OTF in my opinion.

Anybody own a Böker Kwaiken automatic?
They look pretty slick and I believe are put together by Protech.

Pro Tech makes a very good knife. The one I still have was a blade I set aside from a batch I cnc ground for Pro Tech. I had them assemble a knife with that blade and send it back to me.] with my initials on it. They now do their blade grinding in house and I do mine in my garage. Tim

Besides the Ultratech, I also own a ProTech Kwaiken. Really like the blade design....that being said, a couple things about the knife I don't like. The trigger button is recessed on the aft side of the knife and the anodized finish on the handle scales is somewhat slippery. Opening your palm up to reach back with your thumb to depress the button, relaxes your grip on the knife.....takes extra time and care to open without dropping the knife. Using two hands to open an Auto is counterproductive at best.....
