Wow, great displays. Wish I could see them in person. Maybe next year, it's about time I got east of the Rockies. Thank you for posting the great pics.

When you walk into a gun shop and find a cut checkered 99F in 284 with some flaws, but can't come to an agreement on price.
Aargh...
It's still a cut checkered 99F in 284. A week or two ago you said you were rubbing off on me because I bought the drilled and tapped pre-war EG. I bought it ONLY because I wanted an example of that PARTICULAR mount. If I saw a cut checkered F in 284 AND I wanted it I would HAVE bought it.

If the stock had been better, it'd be on my table. But 1/2" tang crack, small piece off the top of the buttstock by the buttplate, varnish rubbed off on spots of stock, sling stud in buttstock, all case color gone on external parts of lever..
Price is probably right for it considering some of the prices we've seen for them in the past. But I waited 10 years for a 99T in 303, I can be more patient for a cut checkered 284.

With firearms I've found that if I pass on Gun A today that tomorrow will likely bring Gun B, and that gun will likely catch my interest too. Wait a week and the ensuing days will also bring Guns B through Z and beyond. Life is an adventure and there's always another one to be found around the next corner.

Personally, wouldn’t buy a gun with damaged wood or extra holes....

If you said it was a piece of junk in the first place I would not have posted in the first place. But then we wouldn't have enjoyed your participation. Would clean up pretty good, flaws are small enough that it would fill a gap in a collector's set quite well until a flawless one was found.
