I have an SR22 that I like. It’s very reliable and fairly accurate, but ammo sensitive for accuracy like most 22s. Mine’s all black, and I carry it in a Blackhawk holster for a Glock 23. Fits well.

I think the 4.5” SR22 would work for me. I like the DA/SA. Walther makes a nice gun too.

But I’m holding out for when the PMR30 comes out in 22 LR. So maybe never.

Be nice to have a lightweight little auto that I could stick in my back pocket instead of lugging that 2+ pound target Ruger around. Although it does shoot good.

I bought an M&P Compact and have been impressed with it so far. I did replace the sights with Dawson's but it's been fun and fairly reliable given that it's going on 2000 rounds of mostly cheap ammo while being wiped down once. It's not a target pistol but accurate enough for a trail gun. Weighs nothing, small enough to go anywhere yet big enough to shoot well.

Cons were the sights wouldn't stay put, I removed the internal lock and mag safety and it's a little pricey for what it is but what ain't anymore?

The trigger is similar to the centerfire M&P's but it is hammer fired gun instead of a striker fired, which is good for the 22 ammo we have these days, very few duds.

My other choice might be the Colt 1911 22LR......but

like the portability of the smaller sized SR22 & Walther with 3.5" bbl

want to be able to stuff in front pocket or carry easily on hip

seems the Walther is new & improved & not so ammo sensitive

as per vids on U Tube....but only comes with one mag also

I have the M&P 22 and have put about 500 rounds of federal and cheap win 22 through it.

3 failures to fire - 1 re-fired, the other 2 were duds.

I like the size, the sights and the trigger.

Seems accurate enough for pop can plinking, but for head shots on grouse I'm using my S&W victory.

tikkler, if you like the colt 1911 but like the smaller size of the others, you owe it to yourself to check out the Browning 1911-22. Scaled down, lightweight 1911.......The Black Label has better sights than the mil version.....

Don't have any experience with the Walther but here is a review I made on my SR22 six years ago with some peripheral thoughts on the 22/45. Look at the first post then a follow up a little bit further down.

I've had a SR22 for about 2yr now, very happy with it. Never jammed, the few fail to fire I've had were bulk ammo, and able to fire them with repeat pull of the trigger. Fits my hand well despite size.
There's better guns I'm sure, but for plinking and fun it fits my needs.
