Has anyone run this optic? No one around here even knows about the SS line, so I can't even get a chance to look through one.

Don't currently have one but have used them and they have very good glass and repeatable tracking. If you can get one for around $1000 or less (used) they are a great buy. At their listed price though I'd spend my money on Nightforce.

If I by a Nightforce it'll be the 7-35x56 ATACR, which is over twice the cost of the SWFA SS model.

That's a goodin, I have been pleased with my ATACR 5-25 F1. I was just pointing out that NF scopes are available for the same money, depending on what you are after. If you are considering paying full price for one, a used NXS F1 is in that same price range if 15X is enough on the top end.

I don't own that scope but a couple weeks ago I visited SWFA's store in midloathian tx. I thought that particular model had a pretty darn thick reticle at high power.

I have a SWFA HD 5-20 x 50 illuminated and love it. I like everything about it. Great turrets easily zeroed and they line up EXACTLY on the witness marks when tightened. Reticle is useful without being overly busy. Both turrets and reticle are Mil/Mil. First focal plane keeps stadia spacing the same under all magnifications. The tiny illuminated dot in center is a bonus as it won't block view of intended target in dim light. Jon A did a great write up on this scope: https://www.longrangehunting.com/threads/swfa-super-sniper-5-20x50hd.72157/--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Member Formidilosus had it on his reliable scope list: "Failures or issues with these scopes are extremely rare" 1). Nightforce NXS/ATACR/BEAST 2). Bushnell LRHS, HDMR/DMR, ERS, XRS 3). SWFA SS 6x, 10x, 1-6x, 3-9x, 5-20x 4). S&B fixed 10x PM 5). Hensoldts 6). Older Leupold fixed power Mark 4's/Ultra's --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- There are currently 5 used SWFA HD 5-20 x 50 scopes (non illuminated ) at reduced prices here: https://samplelist.com/entire-sample-list/riflescopes.html?brand=SWFA%20SS&pg=4 FYI I was very fortunate to find a condition B AND illuminated. Been watching for months and not a single illuminated 5-20 has shown again. The scope was a Condition B and was flawless as was a condition B HD 1-6 illuminated. Skylar, at SWFA, said they are very discriminating on what scopes get assigned the condition B. Got one condition C and it had a mark on elevation cover, that was all.

That's all I need to see. Thanks!

The reticle is well designed and the lit center dot is perfect. Glass is good enough, better than a vx3 to me. Tough and repeatable and can be had for 1100 ish on Black Friday. At that price it is a super deal.

Why would someone choose this over the LRHSi, especially at $750?
It is irrelevant what you think. What matters is the TRUTH.

I have two of the Illuminated versions and used to have a 10 HD. They never last on SampleList or used on other forums (same thing with Trijicon Accupoints). They are not lightweights so I don't have one on my lighter weight rifles which is why they probably aren't as well known here. They have better glass than Leupold and Night Force at least in the under 2k versions in my opinion (and others).
