I bought this rifle on a whim because it was so beautifully done. But since I have no need or use for it down the road it goes. It was being sold at a gun shop as part of an estate sale. The late owner's family told the gun shop that they did not think the owner had ever fired it. I cannot say one way or the other but I have not fired it. Other than a couple of small safe dings in the wood it appears to be pristine. No one from the owner's family or the gun shop knew when this rifle was made but based on the scope I'd guess it's fairly recent.
For sale or trade is a lovely 30-06 built on a commercial mauser (FN I think) action, Douglas barrel (pretty sure), Blackburn bottom metal, 3-position safety, 2-panel checkered bolt knob, gorgeous walnut stock beautifully checkered with ebony fore end, inlet sling swivels, Talley rings and Leupold VX-6 scope. Keith Heppler did the stock work and Stephen Heilmann did the metal work. Both gentlemen (both in their 80's) are members of the custom gunmakers guild and have collaborated on several very expensive rifles. I will sell and ship this rifle to your FFL for $4250 or will consider certain trades (with cash either way) listed below.
Trade interest always includes Parker shotguns, Swarovski Z8i 1-8, Colt Anaconda 45LC with 4" barrel, Freedom Arms Model 97 in 45LC with 4 1/4" barrel, or possibly other high-end shotguns.
