I am looking at a sporterized Swedish Mauser Carbine and can ID all the markings except a DPB on the left side of the receiver alongside the chamber. this leads me to wonder where a person can lookup similar markings. I have been doing internet searches for 2 days now with no luck.

You might want to go over on the Gun Board forums. Some of those guys are very well versed in old military guns. There's most likely some of them that specialized in Swedes.

The initials of the Inspection-officer are on the left side of the receiver (before or after the serialnumber). On some of the m/38 rifles manufactured by Husqvarna, the initials of the Inspection-officer is stamped on top of the rear sight base instead of on the receiver. http://www.gotavapen.se/gota/mats/marks_mauser_rifle.htm

J V was the inspector, you are correct, but these are taller markings in a different font than the original factory markings
