Not sure what model mine is, but it's the "lowest" tonage they sell. It has split everything I've put on it. Can't imagine what kind of knotted wood would stop it.

Very good splitters. Mine has been flawless in the five years I’ve owned it. Kohler engine with choke and fuel shut off. Some of them had Briggs engines that had no choke or shut off. They were no bueno.
I second the recommendation to look at hearth. Great forum with great guys. You’d be hard pressed to find a bad review of these splitters there.
Also. They used to be the 22 ton but are now 25. Not to be confused with the 27. The 27 is a larger ram with same size pump which causes slower cycle times. You will not find wood that the 25 can’t handle.

25 or 30 ton is what they have at our tractor supply. I'll have to look to see if it is the Kohler engine still.

FYI when you look. Not all Honda’s are really good Honda’s. Most consumer grade Honda’s are made in China. I’ve been very happy with my Kohler that came on mine(Chinese). Not that there is anything wrong with the Chinese Honda’s but I wouldn’t pay extra for the consumer grade engine.

I have the Dirty Hands 22ton with a 6.5 Kohler. It’s cheaper and starts on first pull. Splits anything I put in it. Lowe’s

Here is another tip SRM.....If you plan to split by yourself a lot in the horizontal position I highly recommend the cradle they sell for like $50. It’s very handy to split bigger pieces in half and lay one slab on the cradle while you break the other half down. Very handy.
EDIT the DHT splitter mentioned above is also a nice splitter that gets good reviews. Same Kohler engine as the county line.

I have a Koehler powered on from Walmart that is 25 ton. Had it for a few years and I've split some really big wood, twisted grain, and massive cankers and knots. Its split a bit over 100 cord thus far and I've only replaced a seal and bushing on the spindle of the motor to pump location. It's fairly fast and is more quick and efficient than my slow 40 ton unit.
I wouldn't have a smaller unit, but the 25 ton splitter powered by Kohler starts first pull everytime and mine has been outstanding.
