Marlin 1895 in .45-70 made in North Haven, CT

Pawn shop has one and its blue with walnut stock, it is in very good condition.

They want $450 out the door, is this a good price?

Sounds about right if the condition is high. About what I paid for new one in 2005.

JM stamp is most desirable. As is the pre-safety models. Regardless, the price is not out of line.

The Cowboy model with the long octagon barrel also would be more desirable to me. But would depend on your intended use. I like the original with the 22” barrel also. And some of the shorter ones, but wouldn’t care for the ported barrel. Again personal preference.

If it's JM stamped it's a deal if it's REP stamped it's not overpriced but there's little met left on the bone.

Do you know which model it is? Around here that would be a bit low for a Guide gun and quite a bit low for a Cowboy version.

Okay. Standard rifle. Good rifle. I'd certainly not want it to get away.
