For Sale: a SWFA SS 6X42 in (mostly) excellent shape.

A guy I know mounted this on a Ruger Precision Rifle in 6.5 Creedmoor for his girlfriend. 2 boxes (40 rounds) later, she declares it doesn't have enough magnification. He sold me the 6X, bought her a SWFA 12X, and they are both happy.

I find it too big and clunky to put on my .223 bolt action. And I’ll never figure out what all the hash marks are in the reticle, so I’m ready to pass it on to someone who will appreciate it.

The scope is near-new (with perfect optics) except for two issues:

First, he used red Loctite on several of the ring screws and he stripped the heads when he tried to get them off. I’m including the rings for free for the guy who can get them off for himself.

Second, he slid the scope body in the rings when he was adjusting it for proper eye relief. In my pics, you can see the scratch on the front left side of the scope pretty clearly (a thin straight line about ½ inch long), but the right side scratch is much lighter and you really have to look to see it in the pics. It’s there, trust me. There may also be tiny marks from the rear ring - as mentioned, I haven't have the rings off the scope.

The result? If you don’t mind a couple of minor scratches on the tube, you can save $50!

Price: $250 shipped to the lower 48. If you want insurance, you can pay for it yourself, because I’ve never seen insurance from any carrier pay off and I personally think it’s wasted money. Your choice – no whining either way. wink

The turrets say “.1 MRAD”. I hope you know what that means.

I will pack it securely, double-boxed (in the original box inside a standard cardboard box) and send it Priority Mail unless you request something else.

Here's one scratch - look to the right, just ahead of the ring. In real life, it's a bit easier to see than in the pic.

Here's the very visible scratch - a straight white line just ahead of the ring.

Those scratches are called ring marks, usually occurs from over tightening the rings and crushing the scope tube.

No, Hammer - think for a second: if the the rings were over-tightened, how could they have moved roughly a half-inch to make the scratch? Especially when being used on something with as little recoil as a 6.5 Creedmoor?

Over-tightening results in pressure marks, which are smooth, evenly-distributed marks UNDER the rings...not a thin, straight scratch on the scope body.
