I sent a stock down to the U.S I just declared it as a wood carving.

None in the USA.
I have no idea what Canadian laws say however.
A wood carving is legally exactly what it is in the USA.

we have come to this awhile ago
these stocks are synthetic, the issue with wood and calling them a carving would be if they are found in transit to be a rifle stock
just trying to find out what US Customs does on a practical level

Yup, the US restricts the sending of stocks the other direction, from the US to Canada, under ITAR.

Yup, the US restricts the sending of stocks the other direction, from the US to Canada, under ITAR. Yup .... The CDNs have no problems with such parts imported.
