After reading about the gems found in gun shops all over America, I finally happened upon one today. Its a 1988 manufacture XTR Featherweight in 280 Remington at my local fun shop. Ironically, I was going to order a M70 Featherweight in 308 and saw this one behind the counter. Just came from a private collection and there are never any M70s at shops around here. This one and one more make the only 2 I’ve ever even seen: Pretty excited about this one! First M70 and first 280! Hope it shoots as good as it looks!

Sixpack SUPER ! ! I had one in 270 Win AS soon as it could be ordered in 1981. I mistakenly got rid of it thinking it WOULD NOT hold zero due to forearm warp. WRONG ! but too late. Later I found out it was the Name Brand scope. I have one in 6.5XSwede now. They BOTH shot very well. CONGRATS.

Very nice. Do not make the mistake of selling it at some later date! (been there, done that!)

Several years ago I ran across one of those at a gun show, in 30-06 at a great price. Like an idiot I ended up selling it. I haven't seen one since. The XTR's are one of the finest rifles out there IMO, but like many others that fall in that category, most people aren't letting them go. So after all these years I am still kicking myself.

Had a friend in PENN win an M70 in 280 REM in a gun raffle back in the 80s. To this day it has been the only Winchester M70 in 280 REM that I have ever encountered.

I don’t think it’s been shot much or hunted at all. Blind hog finds an acorn every now and then...

I thought that as well. I had a red Pachmeyr Decelerator put on mine. Mine is a 7x57.

On a side note.... i may have become a M70 kinda guy very quickly! It fits me better than anything else I’ve tried!
