What product do you suggest for hearing protection while hunting? I've been looking into several products but none are available locally so I am curious about your first hand experiences. I am considering the MSA Sordin Supreme Pro-X, 3M Peltor COMTAC III and Peltor TEP-100. One of the things I noticed with the first two is that they have a NRR of 19-20 dB, which seems quite low.
Stuff I am wondering about is effectiveness and quickness of noise reduction when you fire a round, noise interference from wind, comfort, comfort when wearing glasses and so forth.
Thanks.

I have a set of Pro Ears model Pro300. NRR is 26 with 5.5 millisecond attack time. I've been using them for about three years now at the range and on my hunts. They've worked just fine and when it's getting close to near zero degrees they do a nice job keeping my ears warm. If they ever quit I'd buy another set, no questions asked. Paul B.

I have the Predator Golds(I believe) no issues and they do enhance hearing in the woods and also save your ears. Either my head is too big but they almost clamp down too much and I have to take them off every once in a while . I have been looking at the MSA Sordins as well, from what I have read the 19db reduction is not real world, it is more like 27DB

This is what I wear at the rangem bird hunting and shooting sporting clays. I don't wear anything deer hunting although the sound sensors would work for that as well. BTW in the article, I'm the one who recommended these to Randy. http://www.randywakeman.com/AllenSoundSensorHearingProtectorsTheBestAccessoryinYears.htm

I wish items like those had been around when I was younger! My hearing is so bad now, I can't hear myself fart!

Hopefully your sense of smell survived.

I've been running the MSA Sordin's for some 6 yrs now and absolutely love them. With the gel kits they are extremely comfortable. I hear better with them on then my own natural hearing. The only time I wish I had more is when shooting under cover of the shooting range where the recoil blast of mine or other firearms is reverberated back at us from the ceiling of the roof.

Does anyone use Sound Gear Hearing Protection? If so, would you recommend them?

I am not happy with the pro ears gold I bought 4 years ago, one side does not amplify as much as the other and has static in it. A cheap howard Leigh works as good. Dont use sport ear I tried the in the ear models and they did not work well at $1500 for two of them. They did give me my money back.

I use the Howard Leight muffs. Work just fine.
