I picked up another lease in Central WI and the farmer wants deer populations reduced. Thats all I needed to hear. The front half of the farm is potatoes, The back is corn and a wide river runs through the center. Trail cams show a large antlerless population. I bought a sled and modified it by adding some slick wear strips to make dragging deer easier.. Im using an Ultimate Predator Adventure cam, mounted to the bow. This deer came out of nowhere and really surprised me as she came in without a sound.
Member Wisconsin Bowhunters Assc, Wisconsin Traditional archers, Pope and Young, Asbhy 100,
I went out the same day for our opener but only saw squirrels and a goodly portion of the cast of The Birds of North America. Got my ranges lased though, and learned I was carrying about twice what I should be in my backpack.
Man, I'll be glad when a hard frost knocks those weeds down.
Yup. Thought it might be a crossbow at first. Lucky she didn't duck the shot as happened to me about 35 years ago when I took a shot with an extremely quiet recurve. I think the little hussy that ducked on me heard the arrow, not the bow.
Being it was the eldest Hunter in their group that shot and he mentioned his dad having an xbow you may be right tzone. Then again, ol Ron hasn't been known to tell the truth often so who knows...
