Well, decided to give a Model 100 another try. Have owned about 4 or so over the last 10 years, and all have given me problems - one need the action bars resoldered and chamber polished, another (a carbine) fired off 2 rounds with one pull of the trigger (not 110% certain that I didn't jerk the second round off by mistake). I've agreed to pick one up off of a friend to give another try. Have others found these over the long term to be dependable rifles? I assume like most semi's, so long as the gas system is kept clean then it should be fine?

I've toyed with the Bar, the Win 100, and the Rem Jamomatic, and don't like any at all. The BAR is the best design, followed by the 100 and then the Remington Big Jammaster........

I guess I don't get it, sounds to me like boxing and if I move my head a certain way and all 4 times that I do I get tatooed then I for sure darn sure aint gonna do it a 5th time.

But hey different strokes I hope it works out for you, perhaps the 5th time will be the charm...grins

I know, I know wink Isn't a sign of insanity doing the same thing over and over expecting a different result??

I'm kind of thinking that is the definition of insanity. But, I've felt your pain b4 in wanting something to work out.

I think I went thru 6 boxes of 185 TSX's in my 338 WSM,338/06 and 340 trying to make em work. About to order my 7th box....grins

I've always felt that Les Brown's saying of "it aint over till I win" is pretty much right on!

I have little tolerance for schitt that don't work. The only gun I can ever remember really holding onto longer than I should have was a model 94 built in the 70's. It would not hit the broadside of a barn. Ended up selling it for the same $150 I paid for it. Told the guy I sold it to it didn't shoot, and he musta thought he knew somethin' I didn't, and took it anyways.......There's not a semi-auto deer rifle out there that has ever impressed me even a little.....

Was just thinkin', there should be a model 100 movin' back into the house real soon(and about 30-40 other long-guns), I'll get my bud to take it to the range with me, or I'll just take it myself and see what it'll do.......

Other than feeding issues with the Winchester 100s in 284 that I've owned, I've had great luck with those in 243 and 308. I have 1 that gets used for herd culling and it has been 100% reliable, despite being fed whatever brand of 150 grain factory loads were on sale.

I had the Winchester M100 in the Mid 1960s,and sold it shortly after the second firing-pin broke,if I remember correctly it was in 308.
