Jeff, The cabins were great! Yep they allowed dogs. It was $15 extra for the dog. Not each night, just a one time fee.

Mini Man and I headed up to WI to check our trail cams, walk some trails and try to set up a spot for my daughter that suddenly wants to hunt. That caught me 100% off guard, but in a very good way. We got a spot set up for her. Cut a few shooting lanes, and trimmed a tree I'll have to put a tree stand in next time I'm there. She's legally able to sit by herself, being 15, but we are going to set up a double ladder so I can sit with her. That way, when I offer guidance, she can tell me in person she already knows how to do everything instead of texting it to me. I'm kidding, she'll still text it to me. We swapped the SD cards on 3 cameras. Between the sites we had 2600 pictures. Here are a few of them. This was the first one out of the gate, lol Oh HELLO! This will be the one Kennedy shoots when she gets a free minute from her phone.

Warm and foggy today. Back to hunting temps tomorrow. Anyone hitting the woods this weekend? I'm headed to my dads to put in a gas Hot Dawg furnace in his shop. He's been heating with wood or used oil for 15 years. His arthritis is too bad to keep firing up with wood these days.

We went out and did the Youth only pheasant hunt in ND this weekend where one of my boys shot his first rooster. Great time had by all and the birds are up some out there. Shot clay pigeons, real pigeons, rifles and visited an old "haunted" house. Kids being kids on the prairie!
This weekend is dedicated to getting a new deer stand up so i can sit with one of my boys. We can shoot 3 deer each and my kids are excited because we have too many does. could be an interesting season!
Last night was the 4th night I have spent in my bed since Sept 15th due to work and hunting trips. It sure felt good to be home!
What you do today is important, you are trading a day in the rest of your life for it.

We'll be setting up our 2 ground blinds & 4 trail cams for sure.
Tree stands stay in place, just got to install covers & seats, etc.
Probably a little brush cutting, & freshening mineral sites too.
If it's cold & snowy, like they're saying it's going to be, we might try & whack one with the crossbow, on Sunday or Monday (Cdn Thanksgiving) !
Rifle doesn't open until the 27th & we leave for Europe on the 31st & will miss 2 weekends !
Now that I think about it, we shoulda done all this last weekend & both sat with xbows this whole 3 day weekend.
Paul.

Went up to the deer area yesterday and put up trail cams also to check the blow downs and snow downs from last season. I will need to go back with the chainsaw to get the stands put back up. At least the road in was passable.
On a better note we saw a cow and calf moose crossing Co. Rd. 2 about 25 miles north of Two Harbors. Colors were pretty good up in northern Lake county.

Sounds awesome TJay! We were really hoping to see a moose up there. Was the forest road blocked up or just where you camp?

I'm on a long run of work here. I don't think I've got a day off till Tuesday or Wednesday of next week. Hoping to take a ride up north to do some grouse hunting and scouting for deer season.

back to our regularly scheduled late fall weather! That wind was a good test of my shed yesterday. It was still standing this morning so I'll take that as a good thing.

Oh it's here. It was 35*F when I went to work this morning with plenty of wind. I took the dog for a walk at 530 this morning, didn't grab jacket and I should have.
