This Cartridge often times gets skipped over or stepped around when discussing .30 Caliber Cartridges or Long Range Cartridges
But when taking a closer look at the 300 RUM Cartridge it's really becomes noticeable in both of these categories.
The 300 RUM not only holds its own but in most areas exceeds the performance of other .30 Caliber Cartridges

Great moose cartridge. Having one built now on a model 70 Action. Will try it on a moose next year with 165gr Accubonds.

I have one that I gave my SIL. I loaded it with the 200 NAB and he put a Huskemaw dialamatic on it. One wicked, accurate, hard hitting elk killer! he shot a big cow a tad over a quarter mile with it. Not long by some standards, but getting that heifer back through all the oak brush was a killer itself! ha.
Before that one, back in '99 I believe, I one made up on a rechambered Mod 700 30-06 Classic. My smith used an inline magazine you loaded from the bottom, and I shot a custom 150gr tipped "so called bonded" bullet by a guy in California. Boy it was accurate and I had them humming! I took it to Van Horn, Tx for those big desert mulies and on the last day I shot one about 75yds away. It dang near cut that poor thing in two! ha so much for "bonding". I gave that rifle to my favorite uncle ( he passed a month ago) as he didn't care if it did tear them up. I wanted a longer barrel, ended with the one I gave my SIL. It too was a Mod 700, but stainless RUM action and with a SS Shilen 26" barrel set in a Boyds laminate stock ( slimmed & trimmed and checkered) I love the 300WM and the 180s, but the RUMS just call out 200+ for me! Great, accurate, easy to load for round.

I shoot 180 grain bullets, usually Ballistic Tips or Accubonds (about 50/50), out of mine with RL-22 and it's nasty and very accurate. She wears a Shilen match barrel. A few times I've gone with 200 grain AB's and life's been rosey there too. She will stomp a deer or bull elk easily.
You only live once, but...if you do it right, once is enough.
