Likely been discussed before, but how many run cast bullets through a 9mm pistol?

And this would be pretty much for fun, as I have a healthy supply of gold dot factory loads for defensive use.

Been a number of years since I even loaded for any handgun. And never the 9mm...

I've run thousands of them, usually 147gr. Have switched to the coated versions, but still use them as primary loads for USPSA matches for mine and my boys guns.

I shoot Missouri Bullet Company's 125gr LCN and like it a lot. A couple G19s and a PF9.

There's a Dillon set-up gonna be for sale here locally and I may just need it. Don't see setting myself up to cast, but there seems to be a fair assortment of affordable bullet options on the market.

I used to cast my own, using the LEE .356-125-2R moulds. Danged fine bullets, weighed 126gr. out of wheelweights. I never had a 9mm that didn't shoot that bullet extremely well, and the shape is perfect. Some roundnoses are too blunt, and some are too pointy, the 2R is perfect. I used them in .38 Supers, too, with equally good results.

I loaded them fairly warm, and they shot well enough, (5"@100 yards, OFFHAND). I probably cast 5-600 lbs. of lead thru that mould. That's a LOT of bullets. I shot the hell out of those bullets. I loaded it for a P-35 Radom, several Hi-Powers, a CZ-75 and a couple of clones, too, a Glock 19, and probably several others I've forgotten. That old Radom was probably the most accurate of the lot, despite a rough barrel and questionable heritage ( 1944 Nazi proofs, practically no finish or polish work,, it was rough).

I don't have the mould any more, I sent it off to Snake River Marksman some years ago, along with some other good ones. I hope he's getting some good use out of it.

I've shot a fair number. there was a guy here locally a while back liquidating a garage full of cast everything he had come into somehow. No idea who cast them but they are 124 gr. round nose with sloppy lube but they have worked fine. As soon as it cools down a little more I'll probably load up a couple more ammo cans worth.

I was ready to give up handloading completely, and I haven't loaded for handguns in many years anyway. Then my youngest son takes an interest in shooting after ignoring it since he was in jr high.

Been teaching him range protocol and manners, and may well have to set him up to load. Between the 2 of us we went through 600 rounds today. Me 100 and him 500.

the steel cased winchester cheep stuff shoots well enough, but some guns are a little picky about feeding it. We put a dent in our supply today

I use the H&S powder coated 125's pretty inexpensive and they feed and shoot well!

I'm currently shooting Lee 358-125-RF. I tumble lube and size to .358 and load over Hodgdon Universal.

It makes for a very serviceable practice load out of most of my 9mms.

I've done it, with good results. Just watch your seating depth--in a case that small, pressures can spike before you know it.

I like that bullet for subsonic 9mm loads to shoot through a suppressor. The wide (for 9mm) meplat is still somewhat effective at reduced speed, compared to round nose profiles.

If you powder coat them, that bullet can benefit from having the lube and crimp grooves reamed out to a smooth body; it'll drop from the mold easier with fewer rejects, and have more driving band contact.
