This season the temps were well below normal for 1st rifle. I ended up using my Crispi Guide GTX vice the Salomons. Even with a little insulation my feet (toes) were cold when glassing or even hiking first thing in the morning. I find that leather just doesn’t breath well enough for my sweaty feet. I’ll be looking into an insulated non-leather boot. In the meantime I ordered a pair of Salomon Toundra Pro CSWP Boots, primarily for tree stand use. I’ll see how they do hiking as well.
For the mountains I’d rather have dry feet through an uninsulated breathable boot, than damp feet in an insulated boot. Breathable and insulated is a challenge.

I’ve been using La Sportiva Omegas with great success- lightweight for a mountain worthy boot, secure in the heel and midsole but roomy in the toe box, sticky vibrahm soles, stiff, but not overly

sadly discontinued frown I just received a pair of La Sportiva TRK’s that I’m hoping will be a worthy replacement. The fit is almost identical which is always my first concern, the boot is a couple of oz lighter, but seems to be close stiffness wise- sticky vibrahm sole, but a different pattern- the boot itself is a synthetic outer vs leather, but still goretex lined

time will tell if they make the cut
