wanting a 300prc. I'm not sure if any manufactures are going to be chambering this anytime soon. But I sure like what I've read. What's the best way to put one together? Can I just take a 300wm and have it reamed?

No you can’t. The PRC is designed for a short action. You will need a custom reamer.

Pretty sure the 300 PRC is designed as a long action. https://www.americanhunter.org/articles/2018/10/16/first-look-hornady-300-prc/Don't know the answer about if you could rechamber a 300 WM. My first question would be lacking the belt and that impact to the chamber. Not saying a no go, I don't know the answer.

Thanks I contacted mcgowens they said they don't offer it currently. Thinking my best option is to find a savage profit or do a remage. My son took over my 300 win mag and I find myself in need of a new 30 caliber. I may have to wait for the market to catch up. I filled my elk tag this year so I have all summer to get something figured out.

My bad. I figured you wanted a 300/6.5 PRC. I have never heard about the 300 before.

Does anyone know of a smith with a reamer yet?

Is this a real thing? Isn't a 6.5 PRC essentially a necked-down 300 RCM already? So neck it back up and change the name to get it to sell this time around? Is the throating different than the RCM? I'd have thought a 7 PRC would be the next step in development after the 6.5...

I’d be happy to build them if you can wait for JGS to get a reamer to me.

I've got some sitting in front of me. It's a LA based cartridge. Tooling is on order and as soon as we have it, we'll be adding it to our lineup. The 212 grain pills from Hornady COAL at: 3.650"
Happy to help.

Remington is building the 300PRC thru their custom shop. Can't say that I've heard of anyone else stepping up to the plate with the 300PRC. Heck, the 6.5PRC barely has it's foot in the door. Have yet to figure out where the demand/need for either PRC is.

This site has been known to cost a guy some $$$$
I have the 6.5 PRC I also have a rifle that needs to be rebuilt. I would use a #4 barrel 1-10 or a faster twist. It would be kinda nice. Not sure it would be much better than my 300 Win. Mag. It would prolly end up with one of my grandchildren's name on it. To be safe, I should just chamber another 300 Win. Mag.
Take care

The 300 PRC is the same internal capacity as a 300 Weatherby approx 99 gr water, so it would barely out perform the 300 Win mag....Will be some time before brass is available, unless you want to neck down 375 Ruger brass yourself.

Should be able to set the barrel back a couple of turns on a 300 Win Mag and re-chamber. You will then have a rifle chambered for a cartridge which not much different from a 30 Newton. I am excited about this cartridge just because it should provide a good source of cheaper brass for the Newton. I doubt that I'll buy a reamer for this since I already have all the 30 magnums I need; including the Newton. GD

I’ll always wondered why Ruger didn’t do a 30-375 or 300 Ruger instead of the 300RCM?
All that said, why not just go with the 30 Nosler?

Finally realized that regardless of need, I'm gonna build one . . . . . Action is in hand, with side-bolt release installed and bolt fluted. Dave Manson reamer and gages are in-hand as well. Barrel is scheduled to be delivered Monday by the brown truck. McM stock came today.

I have it on good authority that they will have more velocity than a 300 RUM, more accurate than a 6PPC and less recoil than a 243. At least this is what my buddy keeps telling me.
