Oh I don't think they're chasing too much yet...I think you have a week to go for that. In WI the weekend before last there were zero rut signs. I'm guessing this weekend, there will be some rubbing and scraping going on though. SD showed a few signs. Rubs anyway.

Ok...I think I finally have this [bleep] figured out.

Here is Mini Man's first Mulie.

[Linked Image]

Here with some guidance he started the dirty work. He's helped me before, but this one we helped him. Next one...he's on his own.

Believe it or not...This is the entrance. .223 Rem. Barnes 55gr TTSX, 90 yards. Right behind the shoulder, tight to it, he was below the deer a good bit.
[Linked Image]

Exit. Through the heart and lungs. We should have taken a pic of the heart. It was a "heart Slinky." Unwound. I've never seen anything like it.

Got back last Saturday from our antelope hunt. The daughter and I shot our bucks 1 minute apart! Both nice bucks (for you scoring folks, they were both around 70"). But more than the score, it was so fun to double on them together. We drug them together and have a picture of both of us together doing the grip and grin!

It really feels like deer hunting today. overcast, wet, and grey. The fever is running high here!

Hope to be coming up your way for ML season Berettaman. If I tag out in gun season, I'll pick up a management tag for your area and try some of the spots we spoke about previously. If I don't tag out in gun, I've got a promising spot down here in Lakeville. The smokepole's gonna see the woods this fall one way or the other.

Was up at my property near Sturgeon Lake, MN on Thursday last. Very little rubbing sign anywhere. Lots of other sign though, like tracks and droppings. Either the bucks aren't rutting yet, or there aren't any bucks there.
