I know that I have read the the Tac-14, Mossberg Shockwave and any shotgun under 18.5" barrel is a no-go in Ohio. Bud's and other online vendors will not ship them to Ohio.
While visiting our local Rural King for softener salt, I swung through the gun barn. They had a Rem Tac-14 for $339 with a note on it that you must be 21 years old.
I'm not in the market for one and haven't been keeping up on recent changes in Ohio laws regarding these but assume they must be OK now.

They technically aren't "shotguns", but "other firearm" according to federal law. They were never built with a shoulder stock. As to them being illegal in Ohio, I did a quick google search and didn't find anything.

In Ohio they are (or were?) considered short barreled "shotguns". Feds say they're OK but not Ohio unless something has changed.

Dredging up an old thread for celebratory reasons. The Rem Tac-14 and Mossberg Shockwave are likely to be legal in Ohio in the very near future. It might take a while for vendors to ship here but I'll be buying one just because I can.
Even more importantly with the new law, burden of claiming self defense will be changed from the defendant to the prosecution.

I could be mistaken but I thought Ohio passed a law in the waning moments of the Kasich administration making such guns legal. Kasich vetoed it but the legislature over rode his veto.
Don't blame me. I voted for Trump.
Democrats would burn this country to the ground, if they could rule over the ashes.
