.338Fed here or the .30-06 because that’s about all the recoil I like.

Seems like more than one person shoots one Grizzly and says they doubt they would ever do it again. And cost is not always the reason. Have often wondered about that.

Battue,

I've heard and wondered the same from a few different people. And cost was not an issue for them either.

After many years of watching many bears doing things like killing and eating cubs I went the other way.

Having killed 2, 1 in the lower 48, I would love to go back to Admiralty and shoot another one. I learned enough from the first trip how to more effectively hunt them. I just haven’t learned how to get that much cash to do it again...

I meant the females easily finding a human shield to keep the Cubs from being killed.

Yes, I understood that. My comment was just about bears and how opportunistic they are.

Guide I had in AK did a lot of Grizzly hunts. However, he said Black Bears had often been more of a PITA when it came to hanging around and causing mischief. We had one encounter were one came in and tore up our spike camp. Then generally continued to be one. Came in the one night and took off with the bagged Mt Goat meat. I kinda thought perhaps he did us a favor. 🙄

He must have not used the "Sierra Gamechanger" bullets.....lol.
What a great video. That is a beast of a bear....
I wonder how much a hunt like that would cost?

Many hunts under my belt. No kills. Kodiak brown bear hunting is an adrenaline rush the likes of which has not been equaled in my life.

Black bears behave like large raccoons when they're used to being around people. Can't keep them out of stuff. Having worked in Rocky mountain national Park in my college years I got to chase many black bears out of camp with a broom.

It would be a nightly thing by the end of summer.

Played back-up for a good buddy with a longbow. He stood on glare ice in his stocking feet for 45 minutes with a bear as close as 27 yards. He had set his shooting limit at 23 yards. For a significant part of the time he was at some level of draw. Bear finally walked away. That felt a bit more hairy than most Kodiak hunts I have done.

Shooting moose, caribou and black bears is different to me then creeping along a salmon stream in the fall.

Awesome bear and hunting salmon streams in the fall is a hoot. I know the native guide in the video and will ask him what they were shooting next time I see him in church.

I talked to the guide yesterday when he was at my daughters. The client had taken a good goat earlier that day with a .280 and borrowed a .416 for the bear hunt. Don't know what bullet but guide told me he thought it was 300 grains. The guide was using a .300 Winny with 180 grain Partitions, said it is all he uses.

He had nothing to do with the music and did not know it was You Tube bound. He also said the film was edited and the bear was shot 9 times and had a 28 inch skull.

He said all hunters know the guides will shoot if they think the bear will get into the pucker brush. Good idea in my opinion.

Pretty bear and a fun video! Lonesome dove has some nice bears down in that corner of the state. I don’t know how people can not love hunting bears but that’s ok.
Wait....AOD has a bear whisperer?
