We bought several Pennsylvania game Commission weight tapes using money from the camp kitty. Each member got one and new members are issued one to cut down on the "big buck" BS. The only problem is the tape is maxed out at 286 lbs. live weight. The deer must be smaller in PA.

Thank you! That cabin is cool. There are a few like that scattered through spots in the hills. Pretty neat stuff.

Congrats to Tom and the Buckers. A great weekend's hunting by everyone. I had a feeling CBJ would fill a tag this fall.

Camp report from west central MN: My daughter had the morning of a dozen lifetimes at her stand. She had 15, yes 15 bucks running around her stand. 4 of them were really nice bucks and when she finally got one to stop and stay still for a minute she ventilated a really nice 8 pointer. Meanwhile, twin son #1, in his first ever deer hunting morning, sat all of an hour and a half before a broken up 5X4 came along at 33 yards. He promptly double lunged it and we had 2 bucks before 9 am. Twin son #2 didnt get a chance at a buck, but shot a doe that evening. My dad also shot a nice 8 that night for quite the opening day. There is an article about them in the local paper (echopress.com outdoors page if anyone wants to see it). Quite a special day for my family. 2 first deer and a first big buck for the daughter in one day.

This is my 41st year deer hunting and B-mans daughter sees more bucks in an hour than I've seen in the last 20 years! Happy for her - Me? that's a little depressing.
B-man, is that an A-390? One of the best shotguns ever built. Got one for duck hunting - Silver Mallard - my son has, ahem, acquired it. I had to get another - A400. It's all good.

CFT,
I would say hunting in MN, MI, and WI are not the best places to see a lot of bucks in a day. BM’s daughter being the exception. My later FIL told me there is nothing like hunting out west as far as deer sightings go. After what I witnessed last week, he’s right. The amount of bucks, and deer seem daily was not even comprehndable to me at first.
After the first hour on day 1 I texted my wife “I’ve seen 15 deer and 3 bucks in an hour. That’s 2 seasons in MN or WI.”

Yes, that is a Beretta 390. Love them! I use one, my dad uses 1 and my son has one that my daughter used this year. It feels weird how many bucks we saw this year as it just sounds crazy. We don't take it for granted and feel very lucky. We do work pretty hard on food plots and habitat so that is definitely part of it.
The best part of the whole deal? My kids are hooked. My wife said I gave them all the fever....and I loved it. Watching your kids be successful hunting is one of life's great pleasures for sure.

I was sitting in justin's stand That's a heavy bedding area for does and fawns. The rut has "new" bucks snooping around up there like crazy.

The hunting weather moved in last night. I have a feeling you’ll be finding a few more snooping around there this weekend.

It was very slow on my hunting grounds. I hunted through Tuesday. It snowed Monday night and got windy and cold. That got the bucks all chasy and rutty so I had high hopes when I saw some chasing going on Tuesday morning but no luck.
Maybe this weekend.
Congrats to everyone that had success and good luck to those that still have a tag to punch.
Excellent pics and bucks!
Congrats on the doe, Joe!

wow we've got good snow in the forest. Joe and I hunted last night, stayed at the cabin, hunted again this morning. I had to come back to the hot rod shop mid day today to take in a project for a customer. This is killing me! Hurry up guy!
I want to be out in the woods in a stand all day today.

They were sure moving last night. The son who shot the doe almost connected on 2 different 8 pointers, one nice and one really nice. Too much brush and we needed one more step on numerous occasions for him to get a shot and the darn bucks wouldn't cooperate. We had the nice one broadside and clear at 125 yards, but that is too far for his first year so we had to pass that shot up. Heckuva fun night!
Good luck Chickenbuckers! I wanna see some more pictures!
