In/out in 10 days or less. We'd be happy to help.

Another vote for Chad at LRI.

Two week turn around including shipping time. Amazing work and it also shot less then .5” with first factory ammo I’ve tried.

Plus Jim charges a very reasonable price and always has a nice shop dog. What's not to like!

I was under the impression they didn't fit barrels, just made them.

Shilen is great for quick delivery. One of the reasons Jim Kobe and others, like David Christman here in Louisiana, can offer such quick turnaround time is they both use a lot of Shilen barrels. In many cases it's the barrel maker that's the bottleneck.

If the OP already has the parts, then that's another matter.

Dirtfarmer,

Fyi, the last time that I talked to the NICE LADY (And she IS a VERY NICE & HELPFUL lady.) at Shilen she told me that they would happily fit my new barrel to my receiver & test-fire it for me.
(Maybe they only do such services for us TEXICANS??)

I haven't talked to them in about a year or so, due to some health problems of my family that have SHUT DOWN a lot of my plans, including a trip to Africa for Cape Buffalos, plains game & (HOPEFULLY) a leopard.

yours, tex

Maybe the nice lady took a shine to Tex...

She told me where to go.... grin

Jim Kobe was one, David Christman was another. I've used both and they're great smiths. Evidently those two use a lot of Shilen barrels, have a good relationship with Shilen and Shilen with them.

I've posted before and will again. Pick your smith and ask what barrel to use. Those guys know which makers are quick on delivery, which ones back their products. A big name doesn't always mean optimal results. Some big names may be floating along on past reputation. Your smith will know. I don't see a lot of difference with hunting grade rifles. Most premium barrels shoot like premium barrels. If they don't, then it's the smith working with the barrel company to make it right. I would think the smith would have a lot more stroke with a maker than a random customer. The smith's reputation is one the line, as well as the maker.

I am an amateur gunsmith building a half dozen rifles a year for myself.

I can cut tenon threads in an hour.
I can ream the chamber and headspace in an hour.
I can dial in and crown the muzzle in an hour.
I can cut extractor relief on an M70 or Mosin Nagant, in an hour.
I can assemble a custom bolt for a Rem700 or Sav 110 in an hour.

It is all the other parts of a rifle that seems to take a week.
Custom pillars, glass bedding, aftermarket triggers, scope mounting, recoil pads, painting barrels, waiting for parts to arrive.

Can recommend Chad Dixon at LRI
Jon Beanland but don’t know his timeframe
Does Eddie Fosnaugh still do work for the campfire members?

LRI is usually pretty quick, I've had a couple done by them. They're good on the barreling and cerakote but will charge a fortune for stock work.
Jon Beanland is usually about six months out, he's worth it.
I don't know about Eddie Fosnaugh.

An excellent semi-retired smith in Louisiana, Don Geraci, rebarreled a remington M7 for a friend and had it ready the next day after he dropped it and the barrel off. He doesn't do cerakote though and obviously bedding would take longer. It's not the work itself that takes long, it's the smith's backlog. Ask one how quickly he can start on it and if he says he can start immediately then barreling, cerakote & bedding shouldn't take more than a week. The well known guys are usually backlogged but there are a lot of really good gunsmiths that are below the radar that can turn them right around.
