Well, i’ve Just finished my first full season using a Frankenstud instead of a Kifaru gunbearer etc. I’m sold. It is simply better. Today was my last hunting day, in knee deep, snow, deadfall, etc. isn’t it great when such a simple thing works so well! It is nice not having the straps etc.,

My shoulders do not function agreeably with a slung rifle.
By the way, in case you missed it, Jeremiah was a bullfrog.

Interesting... haven't seen them before... Wouldn't the rifle still slip to the side or off the back though?

It does not slip. Holds it perfectly in fact.

I’ve used one for two years; 2 elk and 2 mule deer hunts in CO. For those hunts I’ve used two different rifles and two different packs. I’ve found that it really holds the rifle against you quite well. The rifle doesn’t swing around or move to an uncomfortable position. It is not coming off unless you want it off, and then it’s pretty easy to get it off. With a heavier rifle it can help to connect the pack chest strap, but there are no real negatives that I’ve found. It really is a better mousetrap.

I use mine on My Bino Pack and works great, but I still use my kifaru gun slinger when I have my pack on. Both have their advantages.

I've used one for two seasons now and I love it. I'd be hard pressed to give it up. It's a simple no-nonsense item that works.
Suck bullets simply suck.

Does anyone think it would work well enough to attach this through just the webbing on the shoulder strap rather than punching a hole through the all of the padding etc?

I did just that. I used a double thickness of leather from an old pair of brush pants as the backer for the Frankenstud, then sewed the leather to the strap of my backpack. It worked fine, but was a complicated solution to a simple problem.
