I got an email from Aguila stating they have put 5mm Rem mag ammo back in production. fingers crossed. Of course at a Sug retail of $29.95 I may have to sell some plasma to afford it.

Never owned a rim fire 5mm but sure would if ammo was commonly available. And sure wish there had been a better selection of rifles chambered for it.

Other than the Remington 591/592 and the T/C Contender, what other rifles were chambered in 5mm RM?

If you think that is bad try buying some original remington 5mm ammo at least 65-75 dollars a box.

Yep
I have two or three boxes of Remington 5 mm ammo. I found a rifle several year ago in a pawn shop and asked the guy in the shop what he would take for the rifle. He would not come down from the $600 asking price so I asked if he had any ammo for it and he said no. when I told him I had some Remington ammo he offered to trade me three boxes of 30-06 Remington corelok. I walked out without any reply. Still looking for a tube feed Remington 5 mm.

Hope you get lucky and find some a little cheaper when it hits the shelves. I can remember lusting after the 590-series guns way back when. Got a 581 for Christmas in 1967 and it's still plugging away, but doesn't get out much these days. On its third scope, a K6 I couldn't pass up at $130. Eventually I want to futz with the bedding a bit to try and tighten up the grouping, but other stuff keeps getting in the way. I was lucky enough to find another 5-round mag for it years ago before they turned to platinum. The original still works, but stutters a bit at time; might need a good wash and lube.

Pappy348, are you talking about a 591 magazine or 581 in 22lr? If its a magazine for the 581 in .22 you seek theres a fellow on here that make great metal ones. I bet if he made some mags for the 591 they would sell like the proverbial hot cakes.

There's a guy over on RFC who has some of the new Aguila ammo in hand. With a jacked up MSRP and a reduced MV, it'll be interesting to see how it sells. I have a decent supply of the first Aguila run ammo to feed my 591M & 592M. So I'm not horribly desperate.

There's also a guy who DOES make a steel 591M magazine...……………..

Not looking for any; the two I have for my 581 are plenty. Mine's not going anywhere, but I don't go all woozy over these like some do, or their CF cousins either. Lots of better rifles out there, then and now, like my SS 455 for instance. Only so much nostalgia room at my house.

I got an early xmas gift down here, found a really nice 592 yesterday with 1 1/2 boxes of original rem ammo for about $280.00 USD, don't like my chances of finding anymore ammunition and not sure if someone does import the new batch coming I will be able to afford it, 30 bucks USD is going be a lot more expensive here

I was in a lgs about a year before Aguila brought out the first batch. They had a cherry looking 591 on the wall for $150. I asked if it came with ammo. The guy laughed. About 9 months later I noticed a guy on a local forum wanting to buy 591s and 592s. This got my curiosity up and thats when I discovered Aguila was bringing the ammo out a few months ahead. So I started calling shops to see if I could find one. I found a nice tube feed gun for a reasonable price. A few months later I ordered a case of ammo for around $12 a box if memory serves me right. I cant wait to see what the wholesale price is going to be on the new stuff.
