Looking to trade my custom 250ai from Karl at Kampfeld Customs built on Borden Alpine action, McMillan stock, Brux 24" 1-10 barrel. Complete build by Karl including all the fluting and coating work. LOP is 13.25" and weighs little over 6lbs bare rifle. It shoots ragged holes with 80ttsx at 3593fps and 115vlds at 2965fps. Excellent shape with no chips or nasties.

I don't think Karl is taking custom orders anymore because he's making more money fluting so this is a pretty special and rare rifle, you just don't see them come up for sale so hard to price. But the parts alone are well over $2500 not including all of Karl's work. I'm looking for a similar quality custom build in a short action 6.5 or 7mm. I have dies and plenty of brass and bullets with rifle. Thanks and please PM if interested.

Ha...no magic dust. The 250ai is probably Ackleys most efficient catridge he ever created. Reloader15 gets you there with zero pressure signs. Anything a 257Rob +P can do you can do with a strong modern action 250ai...and with less powder and a short action. More than happy to share load data with new owner.

I remember when you first got that rifle and posted pictures- always thought it was one of the nicest rifles Karl ever built. I've got one of his, not sure I could part with it but good luck to you!!

Jason - if I didn’t own a 250AI built by Karl I’d be in like Flynn. Bump for a great build and builder!

Thanks guys. I find myself hunting more woods and thick stuff these days and looking to shoot little heavier bullets. It's a great rifle and great build...it definitely won't kill me to keep it in stable.

Yes, I am familiar with the round and it's efficiency. Not heard of these speeds, pushing 3600....seems 200-350 fps faster than I would have thought, and been in any SAAMI territory on pressure. Some rounds are more efficient yes, but also may not show pressure w/o measuring. Nothing wrong with a Mono in this performance level hunting in any terrain, it will go thru trees then exit if you needed any blood trail. JS.

Nice rifle.

Sierra has load data for 250ai and their 87gr TNT at 3450fps, I'm shooting the 80gr at 100fps more with no problem with RE15. Here is the article at Sierra website where he shoots 75gr @ 3700fps and 87gr at 3450fps. Good stuff.

Impressive performance no doubt. PO Ackley as I recall said it was the best...of the improved cases.

Same question.

Prefer to trade but if I sell it outright then I would need $2750 shipped w/o scope.
