One would think the 8mm-06 would be next to the .338-06 like a twin brother....but finding loading data that matches that seems to evade me...can someone point me in the direction that shows loads for the 8mm-06 with the same or similar pressures as the .338-06.....again.......thanks for the help

Sierra Edition V (2003) has several pages. Bullet weights 150, 175, 200, and 220gr.
Examples:
150gr Powder - Max loads - speed IMR 4895 - 56.2gr - 3150 fps IMR 4064 - 56.8gr - 3150 fps AA2520 - 55.4gr - 3150 fps
175gr IMR 4064 - 54.0gr - 2950 fps AA 2520 - 53.5gr - 2950 fps H 380 - 58.7gr - 2950 fps
Powders are those giving max velocity/bullet weight in a 26" barrel.

Thank you...it appears as though IMR 4064 is the preferred powder to start with.

Thank you...it appears as though IMR 4064 is the preferred powder to start with. as it turned out, I was out of IMR 4064 so used IMR 4895 with some .323 diameter Hornady 150 grain bullets....I was shooting an original VZ-24 with the "as issued" barrel.... I got to 54 grains when I noticed very light cratering of the primer and decided to stop there....My chrony said 3058 fps and that's not at all bad....now to try some TTSX 160 grain bullets to see what they yield.....and then to do some shooting from the bench....this to determine if a new barrel is needed.....I have a .30-06 and a .338-06 barrel to screw on if needed.....but a truck gun should be "cheap" and this is my goal....a cheap but totally adequate deer and elk gun.
