Happy to be here for another year!
Spent the morning from pre-dawn hiking at Collis P. Huntington's former duck club at Bolsa Chica, now a state and federal wildlife refuge where I "work" as a volunteer a couple of days a week (can activity which doesn't have a boss really be described as work?). Both flavors of Canada geese, brant, and "fish," "diving," and "puddle" ducks aplenty, and the usual SoCal nonweather that would make duck hunters cringe. Those old robber barons either had different weather patterns back then or were seriously great shots. (Or maybe were just here to get away from their wives?).
We got Canada geese and Canadian bacon, but do we have Canadian goose bacon?
Was Mike Armstrong. Got logged off; couldn't log back on. RE-registered my old call sign, Mesa. FNG. Again. Mike Armstrong
