"Come, shall we go and kill us venison? And yet it irks me the poor dappled fools, Being native burghers of this desert city, Should in their own confines with forked heads Have their round haunches gored."
I've been trying to kill this hog for a year. I finally caught up to him this past Saturday. Barrett Fieldcraft 6.5 X 55 and 130 gr. Swift Scirocco's.
What do you figure he weighed ?
I'm figuring in the 275-300 pound range. I'll go back to the lease at the end of February and see how mother nature has cleaned off the skull. I think he'll make a pretty good euro mount.

I once hunted an Aoudad ram for 14 months before I closed the deal.

Good on ya!

Geedubya,
I know what you mean! I hunted a monster Aoudad in the Apache Mountains north of Van Horn for 3 years and never did get him. I think I hunted him harder than I did the mule deer! LOL!

After them being trapped? or whatever I haven't seen any for about 3 years. Now on our Farm to Market road that runs in front of our property they're 7 dead ones hit by cars in a 1/4 mile stretch. Guess that they are back. This is in a one month period. We have a lot of buzzards, but they ain't touched them yet.
Our lease is in southwest Texas. 17 miles down a dirt road and it takes me 4.5 hours to get there from home. I'd sure like to trap them, but it's logistically next to impossible. I can't monitor and work the trap.

I only set my trap gates when I’m at lease. I leave gates open when I’m not there so hogs keeping coming in the traps or trap pens. I have feeder go off one second once a day. You can see feeder on top in the first and second pic. The third pic is a round pen, sometimes catch as many as 15.
He was a nasty sucker too. Fleas all over him and everything. He's by far my biggest pig on this lease so far. My GF killed a bigger one back in November. When I asked her if she shot anything her response was "yeah a pig, but I think he's kinda small". We got down to it and OMG the damn thing was as big as a bus. Easily over 300 pounds.
